Augusta man convicted of child pornography charges loses appeal before Supreme Court

Assistant District Attorney Frayla Tarpinian, who was also the prosecutor at the trial, maintained that rulings in the case were proper and the conviction on the three charges should stand. The decision, authored by Maine Supreme Court Associate Justice Donald Alexander, rejects Marquis’ appeal, concluding, “(T)here is sufficient evidence in the record to support a finding that Marquis consented to the officers’ entry.”

Belgrade man who admits sexually abusing children to serve more than 6 years in jail

A Belgrade man convicted of robbing three convenience store gas stations in Augusta as a teen pleaded guilty Tuesday to having unlawful sexual contact with three children under the age of 12, all in 2014. As the prosecutor, Assistant District Attorney Frayla Tarpinian, described the evidence to support each of the charges, several people watching the proceedings at the Capital Judicial Center used tissues to wipe at the tears in their eyes.

Augusta woman sentenced to 18 months in jail for sexually abusing boy

A 37-year old city woman pleaded guilty Tuesday at the Capital Judicial Center to three instances of sexual abuse of a boy who was between 14 and 15 years old at the time, and she was ordered to serve an initial 18 months behind bars.
